Expanded Field

The desire I already felt to do other creative things, in addition to two-dimensional painting, was forcibly broken in confinement and in the storage rooms at home.

The need to create on recycled media, to think with your hands, is an arrival to another place, with different dimensions, limits, conventions and materiality. It is the affirmation of the corporal, the tactile and is a challenge due to the unequal qualities. It's like painting for the first time every time.

The definitive inspiration for Pintura Expandia was in honor of my mother, who passed away during the pandemic, with the crochet that she produced throughout her life.

The importance of the presence of the object and the associated history and reframing is gratifying. They are everyday materials, taken from the usual context and are mostly mine, my parents' and friends also contribute.
